Good Friday. Quietness after storms. Stillness, as life rights itself. Today’s psalm speaks to the storms and where to go. “Turn your ear to me, come quickly to my rescue; be my rock of refuge, a strong fortress to save me.” Psalm 32:2 How could Jesus walk the walk towards death and suffering on the cross? I ponder if psalms did not run through his mind as a mantra, focusing his endgame. What a witness to us. Keep handy in your mind or turn to the psalms and use them as a mantra during times of darkness. I started spring break at 3:15 yesterday and am grateful to have time to spend with my Lord and family. Yesterday was noisy as students were eager to have a week off. I pushed myself to have all my work done for the rest of the school year, including the finals. My mind was mush, but the task was done. Considering I have three different sections, three different grade levels, it was a monumental task to create the last two units and the final for each class. I tell you this, not to toot my own horn, but because difficult tasks can be done. My driving point was to spend time with God and family without the distractions of coming work. Holy week reminds us to clear out distractions so that we can hear the whisper, see the glory, read/memorize passages from the Psalms, and know God is with us on the path…
Patience and Hope
“But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently.” Romans 8:25 Since the break, the people in my house have been sick. The flu has struck and is still with us. We are waiting patiently for health to return. The advantage of being ill is that you really slow down and rest. Patience and hope. Two words that fill our lives. There were things I wanted to do during my two weeks off. Instead, I must reboot. Luckily, I have the time to do so. Hope and Patience. Living our lives with hope-for what we do not yet have, and waiting patiently can bring a sense of calm on the path…
