The Hungry and Thirsty

 “Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.” John 6:35

Happy Sunday. To never be hungry or thirsty, what a promise! I do believe that God can provide for physical needs because there are people out there who are the hands and feet of God. However, there is more to physical needs to satisfying a person's hunger and thirst. How many people out there are hungry for companionship and thirst for community? How many are hungry for answers and thirst for healing? How many hunger for peace and thirst for justice? Look at the person next to you and see what they hunger and thirst for. Look at your community and see what hunger there is and who are the thirsty. Then put on the hands and feet of the Lord and go out, bring to those who are hungry and thirsty the food and drink they need on the path…

What will your task be in 2026?

“ and some women who had been cured of evil spirits and infirmities, Mary, called Magdalene, from whom seven demons had gone out,” Luke 8:2 Mary Magdalene was sent by Jesus to tell the followers he had risen. Yet I think that one of the important reasons that Mary could be given this task was that she modeled the power of Christ through his cure of her seven demons. The seven demons were overcome through Jesus. These are the seven deadly sins: pride, greed, wrath, lust, envy, gluttony, and sloth. The deadly sins are replaced with the seven heavenly virtues: prudence, justice, temperance, courage, faith, hope, and charity. As we come to New Year's and think about how we want to change the path we are on, let's make 2026 a great year. Think about replacing one of the demons that might plague you. Christ is there to help each of us with something we need to work on and replace. Who knows the tasks we will be given when we are cured?  Pray on it, reflect, then ask Christ to cure ...
