Peace I leave you

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” John 14:27

My oldest son can find himself in very difficult situations. He deals with people who are not at their best. One of his gifts is deescalation. He can bring about a sense of resolution that brings a sense of peace. I am starting the holidays with a sick household. Yesterday I found out that an aunt and an uncle are in their last moments. Yet I can find peace knowing that those dying with be home with Christ. I know sickness is part of life, and this time of year. I am thankful for illness now when I don’t have to take off work. I have the freedom to do proper self care. Yesterday the pot of homemade chicken soup was made. Jesus ends this verse with “Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” Isn’t that where we can find peace on the path?…
