A Bouquet of Flowers

And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these.  If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith?  So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them.  But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own” Matthew 6:28-34

Each year on this date I think back to when my husband asked me to marry him. Yesterday I received flowers at work from him. There is something about receiving flowers when the season has turned and the earth is blanketed in snow or looks barren. I have shared the above scripture verse several times. It was the Gospel read at our wedding. I think winter can be a time of depression, worries magnify and anxieties that do not stop. Yet the bouquet of flowers can come in people who bring cheer, or situations that have been over come. Each day does have trouble enough, but the key is to look for the flowers that are offered to us, the things that are taken care of and mostly knowing God will be there at each moment, with a bright bouquet to ease our day on the path…
