 “Making the most of the opportunity, because the days are evil.” Ephesians 5:16

I like words, play on words, finding words within words. I rock at word search and finding words not listed. One word I find interesting is the word evil. Flip the word and you get live. Perhaps “making the most of the opportunity” is living. I think sometimes we get caught up in evil being bad people or demons etc. Not that they cannot be evil, but most of us face evil in the sense of complacency or routine. I am working on spontaneity and living in the moment because I believe moments should be about stepping outside the box and  “getting messy, making mistakes and learning from them.” I believe that our days are full of routine, but we need to be open to possibilities within the routine, mundane and not become complacent. Today make it a point to make the most of your opportunities as you wander on the path…

I went yesterday and was treated for bronchitis and a sinus infection.   I have been praying that all of you are well and begin 2026 with hope. What will your task be in 2026?

“ and some women who had been cured of evil spirits and infirmities, Mary, called Magdalene, from whom seven demons had gone out,” Luke 8:2 Mary Magdalene was sent by Jesus to tell the followers he had risen. Yet I think that one of the important reasons that Mary could be given this task was that she modeled the power of Christ through his cure of her seven demons. The seven demons were overcome through Jesus. These are the seven deadly sins: pride, greed, wrath, lust, envy, gluttony, and sloth. The deadly sins are replaced with the seven heavenly virtues: prudence, justice, temperance, courage, faith, hope, and charity. As we come to New Year's and think about how we want to change the path we are on, let's make 2026 a great year. Think about replacing one of the demons that might plague you. Christ is there to help each of us with something we need to work on and replace. Who knows the tasks we will be given when we are cured?  Pray on it, reflect, then ask Christ to cure ...
