Contentment
“I
know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have
learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well
fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I
can do all this through him who gives me strength.” Philippians 4:12-13
Contentment.
For people who suffer from PTSD, Anxiety, or other mental health diagnoses,
contentment can be a hard place to come to. One thing I have found is to know
what the “red flags” are. It also helps to be strong when tempted to do
something when you know it is a “trigger.” For all the information out there
about mental health, I find in certain circles, there still is a lack of
acceptance or understanding of this very real-life journey. I was diagnosed
with PTSD in the ’90s. I know how important it is to be kind to yourself and set up certain walls or barriers to maintain a good, healthy balance. I no longer spend time trying to explain my actions. I just do what I know will keep me safe, joyful, and content. It is a journey, but today's verses remind me that no
matter what, I can have the strength to be content on the path…
