Love

“Do everything in love.” 1 Corinthians 16:14 (NIV)

Love. I think sometimes love has come to mean a lot of different things to a lot of people. For many, love is an emotion. To me, though, Jesus showed us that love is a verb. Even when he wasn’t feeling the greatest about people, he still forgave them, he still healed them, and he still acknowledged them.  I love my husband for instance, not because of a feeling, but because he draws out the best in me, he challenges me, and he has accepted me for who I am. Love. Today, think about what love means to you. Commit yourself to be love to others through commitment, healing, and rejoicing on the path….

Mercy “  The Lord is good to all; he has compassion on all he has made.”  Psalm 145:9 (NIV)   Pope Francis was a man of mercy. His life, his Pontificate, were all ways he lived out mercy. Fruit of the Spirit, worth picking.

  “ In contrast, the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such, there is no law.” Galatians 5:22-23 Fruit of the Spirit is worth picking.  As I go about each day, I try to be a fruit of the Spirit. Yesterday, we were finally able to do two things I love to do: canoe and fish. I was also able to finish my prayer area. Wood chips are down, and I planted the final climbing rose! Eventually, my canopy will be complete. Currently, it has wisteria, honeysuckles, and roses. The new climbing rose will fill in the west end of the canopy. I have a table I am covering, so I will have a table with two chairs to pray and study. The table and chair set I found while antiquing. The set came from an ice cream shop. New Things

  “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.” ( Isaiah 43:18-19)   New Things. It is not easy to move forward. It is not easy to make your way through the wilderness and streams to the wasteland. The wasteland, to me, is the unknown. Yet to grow, to be fully alive, we must venture into wastelands. Sometimes we are thrust into it: a child comes along, when aging parents face their decline; job changes, or retirement can all be the time when we find ourselves in the wasteland. Forgetting former times isn’t about forgetting memories, but more about what we thought it would be like when we reach the wasteland. The ideas, ways things should be.
