Snow

Snow. I love snow. Today big flakes are falling, and the white is covering the ground. A timeless tradition of a snow day has been invoked. Time to slow down and wait for some depth so I can go make a snow angel. As I wait, I am pondering today’s verse from Mark. Mark 7: 14-15 states: “He summoned the crowd again and said to them, “Hear me, all of you, and understand. Nothing that enters one from outside can defile that person; but the things that come out from within are what defile.” Jesus is telling the people how they focus on foods being unclean and clean. He wants them to think about the other things we “put in” our minds, and more importantly our hearts. What we fill our minds, our mental, physical, emotional, and intellectual self comes out in our thoughts and actions. Jesus is cautioning the people to watch for who they are listening to, or what they are listening to. What are they reading, what are they doing for mental health? The point on this snowy day is to fill yourself with that which can build a heart like Christ’s on the path….
