Jesus' Tassel
What would you do if you knew someone could heal a loved one? In Mark's gospel, we see people “scurrying” to bring the sick to Jesus. Jesus didn’t even have to touch them, the tassel of his cloak! Mark 6:55 states: “They scurried about the surrounding country and began to bring in the sick on mats to wherever they heard he was.56Whatever villages or towns or countryside he entered, they laid the sick in the marketplaces and begged him that they might touch only the tassel on his cloak; and as many as touched it were healed.” When we have a loved one that is sick, we would do anything. Yet not everyone receives a healing tassel. There is more healing than just illness. Healing comes in the shape of values, such as diplomacy. Perhaps a border summit would produce a united front against the issues. Unity. I am not opposed to sending any criminal to jail, or sending them back if they are illegal. However, I think that there is a broken system. I am not sure what it is when it comes to immigration. I need clarity. Do people just come in illegally with no papers? Do their papers run out and they don’t fix them? Is the system overloaded? I’m not sure because the news has become about a Superbowl and not about clarifying issues. I’m not sure why we want to buy any country or land? I can’t understand why we can’t invest in our own people. We can spend trillions of dollars on other nations, but can’t educate United States citizens? I’m not sure what Christian values are when we condemn and don’t care for people. I don’t think there is an understanding for the LTGBQ community, transgender nor struggles when division is created. What is division? Any time we signal out one group and promote or just their story is more important than others. The dark side of America has been Irish workers living in squalor. Slaves to the businesses that they worked for—Asians who built the railroads and suffered during WWII. My heart weeps for Native Americans, all slaves, and children who have now been enslaved to electronics, mostly though I’d like to touch Jesus’ tassel to see how we can heal this great nation of ours on the path…
