Rest

 Rest. Who doesn’t need to rest? We all need to slow down at times. Human time is marked as weekdays and weekends. (I sit and write this as I receive an extra day of rest as school is canceled due to the inclement temperatures.) Time. In Genesis time is marked, as God created and said it was good or very good. On the seventh day, God rested. God modeled what humans should do. A day of rest. Mark 2:27:Then he said to them, “The sabbath was made for man,* not man for the Sabbath,” Today is just a simple note: take time to rest. Take time, with God for the path can be difficult, or easy, but the path needs lemonade stands, waysides, and times of rest. Sit, quiet with yourself, and be with God on the path….

Fruit of the Spirit, worth picking.

  “ In contrast, the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such, there is no law.” Galatians 5:22-23 Fruit of the Spirit is worth picking.  As I go about each day, I try to be a fruit of the Spirit. Yesterday, we were finally able to do two things I love to do: canoe and fish. I was also able to finish my prayer area. Wood chips are down, and I planted the final climbing rose! Eventually, my canopy will be complete. Currently, it has wisteria, honeysuckles, and roses. The new climbing rose will fill in the west end of the canopy. I have a table I am covering, so I will have a table with two chairs to pray and study. The table and chair set I found while antiquing. The set came from an ice cream shop. New Things

  “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.” ( Isaiah 43:18-19)   New Things. It is not easy to move forward. It is not easy to make your way through the wilderness and streams to the wasteland. The wasteland, to me, is the unknown. Yet to grow, to be fully alive, we must venture into wastelands. Sometimes we are thrust into it: a child comes along, when aging parents face their decline; job changes, or retirement can all be the time when we find ourselves in the wasteland. Forgetting former times isn’t about forgetting memories, but more about what we thought it would be like when we reach the wasteland. The ideas, ways things should be.
