On the Seventh Day

On the Seventh Day

God’s plan, God’s will…why spend so much time on them? In Ephesians, this is the case. However, there is comfort to be found in the fact that God’s plan is simply to walk with us. Ephesians 10:10 “he has made know to us the mystery of his will in accord with his favor that he set forth in him as plan for the fullness of times, to sum up, all things in Christ, in heaven and on earth.” (The Catholic Study Bible, 1990)  Christ came into the world as all humans do. Christ was born. A student asked: “Would it have mattered if Christ wasn’t born in a stable?”  I ask you; would it matter that Christ’s birth wasn’t in a manger? I think there is something full circle about Christ being born amongst God’s creation of animals. I think it is profound that people’s response to a pregnant woman about to give birth is that there was no room in the inn. The scenario could have been different, but the points would be the same. We are called to care for God’s creation as they are part of the direction found in Genesis 1:28. In addition, the response to God for many will be “there is no room in the inn” (our hearts and lives). As we continue today, wrestle with the birth of Christ, and look for what God is telling you, then kneel before the babe and recommit yourselves to Christ on the path….
