Your Own Sister

1 Timothy 5:1-2 “Treat older women as you would your mother, and treat younger women with all purity as you would your own sisters.

When I think of all the women in my life, I think of sisters. I have one biological sister. I have six sisters-in-law. I have several women that I think of as sisters. Scripture tells us to "treat younger women with all purity as you would your own sister." I will leave it to you to classify younger women. For me, they are those I consider peers or younger. Of course to some, I would be the "older" woman.

The bonds of women can run deep. Many women I know say they relate to men better than women. I would be one of those woman. I have to admit though, the older I get the more I realize that the bond of womanhood is important. Taking the time to build those bonds is part of God's work. We, as women share events and experiences from a unique few. It is important to be able to walk through life with solid sisters. Of course, like all good sisters, we will have or disagreements, we will push each other to be better than we think we are, and yes, we will call each other out! It is all part of the sisterhood.

The passage from 1 Timothy has posed the question, to me, what does it mean by all purity? So, I pose the question to all of you: what is meant by purity as your own sister?
